Derek Mackay MSP recently visited the Jimmy Blair Accordion Orchestra and was delighted to hear that they have arranged a concert in Renfrew Town Hall on Saturday 28th April (from 7:30 pm to 10pm).  This concert will also include special guests from the Netherlands – Torkest Veghel.

The Jimmy Blair Accordion Orchestra is conducted by Gary Blair who, since 2009, has brought together a set of talented accordionists under the prestigious Jimmy Blair Accordion Orchestra name - continuing the bands already distinguished reputation.

The Orchestra has previously come first in all their sections at the West of Scotland Championships, with the Advanced Orchestra securing first place in both sections at the British Championships, whilst the Elementary Orchestra gained two third places.

Derek Mackay MSP said:

“This is a fantastic band and I was delighted to see so many children taking part.

“This is a great hobby which really helps boost children’s confidence as well as teaching them skills they’ll need for the future.

“Activities such as this help unlock the potential of thousands of children and young people helping them to be more creative, healthy and connected with people both within and outwith their own community.”
